Vehicle Use
Minnesota Department of Administration’s Risk Management Division has been working with state agencies to develop driving standards for employees and students who drive state, lease, rental, or personal vehicles for the purpose of improving safety and providing maximum insurance coverage at an affordable cost.
- Drivers of state, rental, lease, or personal vehicles used for state business must submit a Vehicle Consent Agreement.
- The Department of Administration, Risk Management Division will conduct an annual Motor Vehicles Record (MVR) check to verify eligible drivers for state, rental, lease or private vehicles on state business.
- Satisfactory rating:
- You may drive a personal, lease, state or rental vehicle with department approval on state business.
- Probationary rating:
- You may drive a personal, lease, state or rental vehicle with department approval on state business, but you are not able to have passengers within the vehicle as you drive.
- You should not be a primary driver for an event.
- High Risk Rating:
- You do not have an approved rating to drive a personal, lease, state or rental vehicle on state business
