There are several faculty deadlines and various events/performances/exhibitions hosted within the Division of Academic Affairs. If you would like your event listed (only events hosted by colleges/units within Academic Affairs will be accepted), please submit your event to provost@mnsu.edu.


October 2022

  • 10/2: Sabbatical - Dean forwards recommendations and all supporting materials to the Provost
  • 10/3:
    • FIG - Deadline for deans to submit FIG applications to the Office of the Provost
    • PDP Continuing Probation - Faculty member reviews PDR assessment and submit a response to the Dean and submit a draft of a new PDP to the Dean (you may have submitted the PDP draft earlier)
    • PDP Fixed Term - Dean forwards PDP to the department through the chair
    • Next Generation Nursing Assistant
  • 10/4: FRG - Deadline for faculty member to submit a completed FRG application to the College of Graduate Studies & Research
  • 10/5: OSHA/CDC in Dentistry
  • 10/7: PDP First-Year Probationary - Department chair provides any department comments on the PDP to the faculty member and send PDP, along with any department comments, to the Dean

    • FIG - Faculty Improvement & Sabbatical Sub Meet & Confer begin the review of applications
    • PDP Continuing Probation - Dean sends all PDR materials to Human Resources for inclusion in the faculty member's file and forward PDP draft to the department through the chair

    • Sabbatical - Office of the Provost prepares digital copies of Sabbatical leave applications for distribution to members of the Faculty Improvement & Sabbatical Sub Meet & Confer for review (Sabbatical applications will be available in electronic format only)
    • Non-Renewal - Dean provides to the Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs non-renewal recommendations and related materials.
      • *Non-renewal recommendations must be made after the Dean has completed a review of the faculty member's Professional Development Progress Report (PDR)

January 2023

  • 1/2: Non-Renewal - Dean invites non-renewal recommendations from the departments for faculty with probationaryappointments
  • 1/2-1/6: No classes
  • 1/4-1/6: Faculty duty days, no classes
  • 1/6: Promotion - Faculty member submits a completed promotion application and all supporting documentation to the department through the department chair. The same supporting materials are used in tenure review.
  • 1/7: Tenure - Faculty member submits a completed set of tenure forms and all supporting documentation to the department through the department chair. The same supporting materials are used in promotion review.
  • 1/9: First day of spring semester
  • 1/10: Coffee & Conversation with Provost Hood
  • 1/15: Non-Renewal - Faculty member's deadline to meet with President on non-renewal decision
    • (Agreement Date: January 15 of final year of employment)
  • 1/16: No classes
  • 1/27: TSF - Faculty member submits completed TSF application and all supporting documentation to the Office of the Provost
  • 1/30: Non-Renewal - Department provides to the Dean written and signed non-renewal recommendations in accordance with Article 5, Section Q, Article 20, Section A, subd. 4, and Article 22, Section B of the IFO Master Agreement
    • *Any non-renewal recommendations must be made after department has completed its review of the faculty member's Professional Development Progress Report (PDR)

February 2023

  • 2/3:
    • Promotion - Department chair submits to the Dean: 1) The written recommendations of the department, 2) the chair’s reactions or recommendations, and 3) the promotion application and supporting documentation. Chair send reactions or recommendations and any individual recommendations from department faculty members to the faculty member being considered for promotion.
    • TSF - Office of the Provost prepares and distributes digital copies of the TSF applications to the members of the Faculty Development Sub Meet & Confer
  • 2/4: Tenure - Department chair submits to the Dean: 1) The written recommendations of the department, 2) the chair's reactions or recommendations, and 3) the completed set of tenure forms and supporting documentation. Send reactions or recommendations and any individual recommendations from department faculty members to the faculty member being considered for tenure.
  • 2/14: Coffee & Conversation with Provost Hood
  • 2/20: Non-Renewal - Dean provides to the Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs non-renewal recommendations and related materials*Non-renewal recommendations must be made after the Dean has completed a review of the faculty member's Professional Development Progress Report (PDR)
  • 2/24: TSF - Faculty Development Sub Meet reviews applications and forward recommendations on the awarding of a TSF for Summer 2021 to the Provost & Senior VP for Academic Affairs

March 2023

  • 3/2: FRG - Deadline for faculty member to submit a completed FRG application to the College of Graduate Studies & Research
  • 3/3:
    • Promotion - Dean makes a proposed recommendation regarding the promotion decision. The proposed recommendation is sent to the faculty member along with an invitation to meet with the Dean
    • TSF - Provost forwards recommendation on TSF application to the President
  • 3/4: Tenure - Dean makes a proposed recommendation regarding the tenure decision. The proposed recommendation is sent to the faculty member along with an invitation to meet with the Dean.
  • 3/6-3/10: Spring break, no classes
  • 3/10: Provost makes recommendations to the President on non-renewal
  • 3/14: Coffee & Conversation with Provost Hood
  • 3/17:
    • FIG - Faculty deadline to submit FIG application to the office of the dean
    • Promotion - Faculty member meets with the Dean to discuss the proposed recommendation
    • Non-Renewal - Should a recommendation for non-renewal be made by the department, the Dean or the Vice President, invitethe faculty member to meet to discuss the non-renewal recommendation(s) before making a decision
    • TSF - President makes decision on TSF's for Summer
  • 3/18: Tenure - Faculty member meets with the Dean to discuss the proposed recommendation
  • 3/20:
    • FIG - Deadline for deans to submit FIG applications to the Office of the Provost
    • Promotion - Faculty member sends written comments to the Dean for submission with the Dean’s final recommendation
  • 3/21: Tenure - Faculty member sends written comments to the Dean for submission with the Dean's final recommendation
  • 3/24:
    • FRG - Faculty Research Sub Meet & Confer begin to review applications
    • TSF - Office of the Provost prepares award letters for electronic notification to the TSF recipient
  • 3/27:
    • FIG - Faculty Improvement & Sabbatical Sub Meet & Confer begin the review of applications
    • PDP Fixed Term - Faculty member submits Professional Development Progress Report (PDR) along with appropriate documentation to the Dean
    • Promotion - Dean forwards a final recommendation and all supporting materials to the Provost. A copy of the Dean’s recommendation is sent to the faculty member.
  • 3/28: Tenure - Dean forwards a final recommendation and all supporting materials to the Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs. A copy of the Dean's recommendation is sent to the faculty member.

April 2023

  • 4/3: PDP Fixed Term - Dean forwards PDR to department through chair
  • 4/7:
    • FRG - Sub Meet forwards recommendations on the awarding of grants to the Provost
    • Non-Renewal - President meets with the individual faculty member to discuss any non-renewal recommendations before making a decision
  • 4/10:
    • FIG - Sub Meet forwards recommendations on the awarding of grants to the Provost
    • PDP Fixed Term - Department chair provides department comments on PDR to faculty member and send PDR, along with department comments, to the Dean
  • 4/11: Coffee & Conversation with Provost Hood
  • 4/13: Non-Renewal - President conveys the decision on non-renewal to the faculty member in writing, the written notice shall include reasons for non-renewal
  • 4/14: FRG - Provost makes a decision on FRGs
  • 4/17: Promotion - Provost makes a proposed recommendation. The proposed recommendation is sent to the faculty member along with an invitation to meet with the Provost
  • 4/18: Tenure - Provost makes a proposed recommendation. The proposed recommendation is sent to the faculty member along with an invitation to meet with the Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs.
  • 4/24:
    • PDP Fixed Term - Dean meets with faculty member to discuss PDR and provide written assessment of the PDR to faculty member
    • Promotion - If meeting is requested, the faculty member meets with the Provost to discuss the recommendation and submit written comments
  • 4/25: Tenure - Faculty member meets with the Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs to discuss the recommendation and submit written comments.
  • 4/28: FIG - Provost makes a desicion on FIGs
  • 4/29: Tenure - Provost forwards a final recommendation to the President. Faculty member and Dean receive copies of the Senior Vice President’s recommendation. Upon receipt of the Provost and Senior Vice President’s recommendation the President invites the faculty member to meet to discuss the recommendations

May 2023

  • 5/1: Promotion - Provost forwards a final recommendation to the President. The faculty member and the Dean receive copies of the Provost’s recommendation. Upon receipt of the Provost's recommendation the President invites the faculty member to meet to discuss the recommendations.
  • 5/1-5/5: Spring finals week
  • 5/5: PDP Fixed Term - Faculty member reviews PDR assessment and submit response to the Dean
  • 5/6:
    • Spring graduation
    • Faculty duty day
  • 5/8:
    • Faculty grading day
    • PDP First-Year Probationary - Faculty member submits Professional Development Progress Report (PDR) along with appropriate documentation to the Dean. The meeting with the Dean on the PDR will occur in the early fall
    • PDP Fixed Term - Dean sends all PDR materials to Human Resources for inclusion in the faculty member's file
  • 5/11: Spring 2023 grades are due
  • 5/15: First day of summer session I
  • 5/29: No classes

June 2023

  • 6/9: Promotion - President makes a decision on the faculty member’s promotion application. The President conveys the decision to the faculty member.
  • 6/10: Tenure - President makes a decision on the faculty member’s tenure and convey the decision to the faculty member. When tenure is denied, the written notice shall include reasons for denial.
  • 6/19: No classes
  • 6/20: First day of summer session II

July 2023 - Start of FY24

  • 7/4: No classes
  • 7/24-31: No classes
  • 7/27: Summer 2023 grades are due

August 2023

  • 8/21: PDP Continuing Probation - Faculty member submits PDR along with appropriate documentation to Dean
  • 8/25: Promotion - If not promoted, upon request, the faculty member meets with the President or designee to discuss the President’s decision. The faculty member may request, and shall be furnished, written indication of deficiencies and guidance concerning appropriate action to overcome such deficiencies.
  • 8/31: Tenure - Faculty member meets with President after tenure denial
