What is Age discrimination?
Conduct that is directed at an individual because of that individual’s age and that subjects the individual to differential treatment so as to interfere with or limit the ability of the individual to participate in, or benefit from, the services, activities, or privileges provided by the university or otherwise adversely affects the individual’s employment or education.
Examples Can Include:
- Obtaining age-related information for purposes of making a hiring decision. Age-related information for the purpose of compliance with any rule is not discrimination.
- Requiring/requesting an individual to submit to a physical examination, unless that examination is to determine fitness for employment.
- Not promoting an individual because of their age.
- Firing an individual solely based on their age.
